Little Red Dresses

Last night, Project Runway finally gave us a decent challenge; create a party-worthy look out of a potato sack (straight from the farm!) And the results weren’t half bad!

This picture does not do Amy’s dress justice; on the runway, it looked soft and almost breezy. Not only did she “keep the integrity” of the burlap, she somehow managed to make it classy.

Anthony made a really cute little red dress that I was surprised didn’t make it into the top three. I would have never guessed this was made from burlap, and I think it could hold its own against dresses that weren’t created under this particular constraint.

Jay was also able to transform the burlap into a cute cocktail dress, and he gave the fabric a lightness that I never would have expected to be possible. The feathering effect on the skirt was fun and made it look “expensive,” which is the ultimate Project Runway compliment.

I also liked Mila’s dress but it was a little low-cut for my taste, although she did manage to make burlap edgy, which is pretty remarkable.
