Little Red Dresses
Last Thursday’s episode of Project Runway was…confusing.  The designers were paired off into teams, then were told to design a high-end look and a low-end look.  The catch was that the low-end look had to be inspired by another team’s high-end look.  The end results were understandably jumbled - after all, the designers had the challenge of trying to merge their style with another person’s to create an iconic piece, then use another team’s garment as the basis of their second look, which meant that the second designs were effectively the result of four people’s input…

What came out of this mess was a wonderfully innovative and striking design from Maya and Jay (see above.)  The gigantic shoulderpiece has been done on Project Runway again and again, but they managed to make it seem new (or if not new, exciting.)
