Last night’s Project Runway, despite the uninspired task (didn’t they already design for Heidi in the Marie Claire cover challenge?) and the unfortunate departure of Maya, gave us two stunning looks: returning contestant Anthony’s striking black and white dress, and Emilio’s impeccable copper sequined gown. The challenge was to design a red carpet look for “difficult” celebrity Heidi Klum, and these two looks were not only the best, but the only two that came anywhere near being red carpet-worthy.
I was sad to see Maya go, as she was one of my favorite designers, but it seems like she made a really mature decision and I respect that she rather not show anything than to put out a collection when she isn’t ready. It was also a shame that Jonathan was auf’d - I felt terrible that he had to discard his intricate piecework fabric - but when he started his third design with only a few hours left it was clear he was going to be in trouble.
